The Countries With The Best Chance Of Securing Tickets

The Countries With The Best Chance Of Securing Tickets

Concerts and festivals are some of the most memorable events you can go to, giving you memories and experiences that you will likely cherish for a lifetime. However, securing your tickets to these events can be frustrating. Not only can they be costly, but the biggest concerts and festivals in the world will often have millions of people trying to get tickets for an event that only holds 100,000 people.

Whilst speed, preparation, and luck play a part in your chances of securing your attendance, sometimes your location can play a role. That’s why the team at Slingo has revealed which countries have the best chances of getting concert and festival tickets.

We’ve looked into the biggest festivals, venues, and internet speeds in each country to reveal the countries whose residents are most likely to get their hands on tickets for the biggest concerts and festivals.

Countries Where It’s Easiest To Secure Tickets

1) Hungary - 7.94 Ticket Chance Score

Hungary has the best chance of securing concert tickets, with a score of 7.94 out of 10.  Although the country does not come out on top for individual factors, its consistency across the board means it ranks in first place.

Hungary’s most popular festival is Sziget, held every August in northern Budapest. It’s one of the biggest music and cultural festivals in Europe, hosting a record attendance of 565,000 people in 20181

Theoretically, around one in 25 (4.38%) people in Hungary could attend Sziget, the fourth highest percentage on our list. With the biggest arena in Hungary able to host over 67,000 people, 0.70% of the population could attend a concert held at the Puskas Arena, the seventh-highest percentage compared to any OECD country.

2) Canada - 7.30 Ticket Chance Score

In second place is Canada, with a chance of securing a ticket score of 7.30 out of 10. Canada is a great place for concerts, hosting some huge names in the music industry, with Billy Joel, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone all performing in 2025. Taylor Swift even concluded her Eras Tour in Canada at the end of 2024.

The Montreal Jazz Festival is the most popular in Canada, with an average attendance of two million people, the second highest attendance compared to the festivals on our list. If this festival were only attended by Canadian residents, almost one in 20 people (4.99%) would be able to go, the second-highest on our list.

3) Austria - 6.77 Ticket Chance Score

Austria has the third-best chance of buying concert and festival tickets, with a score of 6.77 out of 10. Austria is home to the largest open-air music festival in Europe, Danube Island Festival, also known as the Donauinselfest music festival. Danube Island Festival takes place on an island in Vienna and typically attracts 3.3 million people.

Due to the number of people this festival attracts, more than a third of Austria’s population could attend this festival, which is the highest percentage in our list. It’s these two factors that make Austria rank so highly on our list.

Danube Island Festival is held annually in June. As well as its open-air setting, diverse acts, and large-scale nature, the main selling point of Austria’s biggest festival is its free admission, meaning you don’t even need a ticket.

The Country’s Most Popular Festival With The Biggest Attendance

1) Austria, Danube Island Festival - 3.3 Million Visitors

Austria’s Danube Island Festival has the biggest attendance, attracting 3.3 million visitors from around the world. Austria’s biggest festival mainly employs local performers, but there have been some international stars who have headlined the event.

Over the years, the Backstreet Boys, Anastacia, Bonnie Tyler, Amy Macdonald, and Sean Paul have been among the biggest stars to perform at the Danube Island Festival.

The Country With The Highest Percentage Of Its Population That Could Attend Its Most Popular Festival

2) Austria, Danube Island Festival - 36.14% Of The Population Could Attend The Festival

Austria takes the top spot once again, with over a third (36.14%) of its population theoretically able to attend its most popular festival, Danube Island Festival. Because this festival is accessible to Austrians, a large majority of attendees are believed to be residents of the country. Danube Island Festival hosts 2,000 musicians across 19 stages, for 3.3 million people to enjoy.

The Country With The Best Internet Speed

1) Iceland - 295.55 Mbps Fixed Broadband Download Speed

Iceland has the best internet compared to any OECD country, with a fixed broadband download speed of 295.55 Mbps. Iceland’s internet speed gives festival-goers a strong chance of securing tickets due to faster page loading, quicker ticket selections, and a smoother purchasing process.

The Country With The Biggest Arena

1) United States, Michigan Stadium - 107,601 Seated Capacity

The United States has the biggest arena, with its largest stadium, Michigan Stadium, seating more than 100,000 people. While Michigan Stadium’s official capacity is 107,601, this arena has hosted crowds of over 115,000 people.

As of 2024, George Strait holds the US record for ticketed concert attendance by a single act, having played in front of 110,905 people. However, Zach Byran, who is due to play at Michigan Stadium in September 2025, is set to break this record after selling 112,000 tickets in two and a half hours.

Despite having the biggest capacity on our list, Michigan Stadium could only host around 15% of Coachella’s average attendance, with the US’s most popular festival attracting 750,000 people. In 2022, tickets for Coachella sold out in just four hours, and in previous years, it was even quicker, with tickets in 2015 selling out in 40 minutes.

The Country With The Biggest Arena That Could Host The Most Residents

1) Iceland, Laugardalsvollur - 3.30% Of The Population Could Attend A Concert At Its Biggest Arena

Iceland’s biggest arena could hold 3.30% of its population if a concert were to be held there, the highest percentage on our list. Iceland’s biggest venue is the Laugardalsvöllur, which has a seated capacity of 13,000 people.

It’s the national football stadium of the Icelandic national team, located in Reykjavik, the country’s capital city. For concerts, the capacity can be doubled to host over 28,000 people.

Methodology

For our seeding list, we used OECD countries. We used World Data to get the populations of each OECD country.

We used a combination of sources, including Music Festival Wizard, Hip Camp, and Google search, to find the most popular festival in each country. We also used Music Festival Wizard and Google search for the attendance at these festivals.

Using the attendance of the biggest festivals in each country and its populations, we calculated the percentage of each country’s population that could theoretically attend the most popular festival.

We then used Speed Test to find the average internet speed for each country.

We then used Google search to find the biggest venue in each country and its capacity for each OECD country.

We then calculated the percentage of each country’s population that could theoretically attend a concert held at the country’s biggest venue.

We combined this into a weighted, normalising each factor with a score out of 10. We then took an average of these factors to get our overall score out of 10.

We got the statistics on Coachella tickets selling out from Mixmag.
